really, tritium deadly!? Tritium borders on harmless. The 208x annual background is a typical alarmist response to anything radioactive.

The tritium in the signs is in gas form, breaking one of the tubes results in nearly instantaneous dispersal into the environment (ever try to catch the helium from a balloon?) Exposure to the person who broke it would be so low as to be practically un-measurable. Short of trying to eat a tube, and the broken glass is going to be a far greater concern than the tritium, there is really no way to get any measurable exposure, playing with a hockey stick is far more dangerous, and has certainly resulted in many more real injuries than any imagined ones from tritium exit signs.

!WARNING actual facts follow!

>The average US citizen gets ~300mR from non-medical sources, smoking increases that by ~280 mR (smoking effectively doubles your exposure)

>have a routine GI study and you get 5 to 10R, that is 20x to 40x your annual.

>in recent yrs the average exposure from medical sources has exceeded natural background for the first time.

Note: As someone who is employed in the radioactive waste industry I can take heart that the lack of understanding will continue to keep my salary inflated for decades to come.

Hi Angel,

This story is just FINALLY making it's way around the world... Still, people are ignoring that little 'detail' about Iran - the obvious question that nobody seems to be asking is: "WHAT DOES IRAN NEED 70,000 ENGLISH LANGUAGE EXIT SIGNS FOR ANYWAYz?! And all at once?!"... AS IF they want to illuminate fire exits for the infidels... Riiiiiiight... Maybe they are prepping the nation for the "Messiah's" (the American President, not the other one) anticipated visit...

"thanks again for enlightening!"

...Enlightening...Glow in the dark signs... hehe, we say "Pun FULLY INTENDED..."
