We do not link to blog posts that often but this one really says alot about the American election & the media favorite Barak Obama, so I thought it a worthwhile post. The article at Right Pundit discusses Obama and his support (or lack thereof) for deployed troops; as well as their percieved support for him.
What realy got me interested were the numbers cited. Apparently the Obama camp is recieving more donations from deployed military personnel than McCain. However, the numbers just do not add up.
You see, its been in the news a lot today that Obama is receiving more donations from military personnel than John McCain. According to what is being reported in the news, Obama’s campaign has received donations from 134 deployed military personnel totaling $60,000, while McCain’s campaign has received $10,665 from 26 deployed military personnel.
It’s calculator time:

Apparently deployed families are doing very, very well. I know of few deployed individuals and/or dependants who have enough extra money lying around that they can donate more than $400 to a Presidental campaign! Something definitely stinks about these numbers! Besides the obvious issue of the amount donated per individual, the numbers are too few to draw any conclusion as to the general political mood of the military. It would be irresponsible to take such a small, statistically irrelevant pool of 160 individuals and use it as a means of drawing conclusions about the entire population of deployed Americans! Besides the extremely small sample size there are questions related to who these soldiers are, where they are deployed (Korea?) and the type of rank & socio-economic cross-section they represent. Then again – since when do statistical relevance, scientific validity, logic, and truth have anything to do with political campaigns.
Says Pundit:
Regardless of the believability of these statistics, all the little Obama drones are running around dutifully from website to blog to website to blog to leave comments pointing out that the military wants Obama as our next President. This is proof they say. There is is, in black and white. Proof positive that the military LOVES Obama.
You know the old adage, if you repeat a lie often enough then people will believe it.
I love democracy!

Hi – thanks for the linkie luv. I found the comments in that article interesting. They are just insistent that Obama is loved by the troops. I think they need to take another tact because that’s just not going to cut it.
