Three more innocent Israelis are dead and 66 wounded today, victims of a terrorist attack in Jerusalem. The attacker indiscriminately used a bulldozer as a weapon against anything and anyone in his vicinity. Although this attack does not suggest the organization of a Hamas or PA attack, it is still a purposeful targetting of Jews and these governments are still culpable for their encouragement of such attacks.

Israel was spared an even bigger disaster by a quick thinking off duty soldier who neutralized the offender.

“At one point he [the driver] yelled out “Allah Akhbar” [God is great] and stepped on the gas pedal,” the soldier recalled. “I drew the weapon of the civilian who was with me and shot the driver three times in the head. I think I did what is expected from every soldier and citizen.”

Hamas, which begged for a ceasefire with Israel a few weeks back, called this latest attack a “natural reaction to Israeli aggression”. What aggression they are referring to is anyone’s guess as Israel has done nothing to counter the ongoing targeting of its civilians.

Since the ceasefire with Hamas began, several rockets & mortars have hit Israeli residential areas. It goes without saying that Hamas has done nothing to curb the violence, not even paying lip-service, as is the PAs forte.

It is high time Israel realize it is in a full-out war; not a cold war or a policing issue. Hamas has launched 7000 rockets since Israel ended the so-called “occupation” of Gaza. Technology being what it is, these rockets will only improve in precision & lethality. Eventually the IDF will have to act, and by then Hamas may be as prepared as Hezbollah was in Lebanon. They will have had sufficient time to plan & entrench, they will ensure that every Israeli action leads to maximum Arab civilian casualties.

Ehud Olmert needs to step down now, he does not have the confidence of neither the government nor the populace and as such he does not have the capital to send young Israeli men into combat. It is also high time Kadima ministers put NATION BEFORE PARTY.

Israel has sat by idly as it’s borders have been pounded on an almost daily basis. This comes AFTER Israel voluntarily left all of Gaza, effectively ending the so-called “occupation”. Still, the Arabs, Islamists and their sympathizers cling to the myth of occupation. If this conflict has or had ANYTHING to with land then I must wonder out loud: why does every Israeli land concession lead to an increase in Israeli casualties?
