He rubs shoulders with the leaders of the free world, is welcomed with all the fanfare reserved for the heads of great states.
Surely Mahmoud Abbas would speak out against the fanfare displayed for child killer Samir Kuntar.
Certainly, as a man of peace, as one who deplores the senseless targeting of innocents, he would remind us that the thousands cheering the murderer did not represent mainstream Arabia.
It goes without saying that this symbol of justice & reconciliation would condemn the new Lebanese government’s declaration of a national holiday & red carpet ceremony honouring convicted killer.

The above is what Abbas’ controlled & run Palestinian Authority TV showed after the release, the Hero Kuntar beside a picture of ALL of Israel draped in a Palestinian flag.
Mahmoud Abbas chose to go out of his way and congratulate the family of Samir Kuntar.
Congratulate??? Put aside for a moment that Kuntar was convicted of murdering an innocent father as his 4 year old begged him “not to kill her daddy”; then methodically smashed the toddlers skull. What exactly was Abbas congratulating them for?
Kuntar’s release was attained through the unjust, unprovoked attack inside Israel. It was achieved through the killing & kidnapping of soldiers on peaceful patrol. The release only came because Hezbollah broke just about every law regarding prisoners of war, not to mention UN Resolutions calling for the immediate unconditional release of Regev & Goldwasser. These acts lead to a war that caused great destruction & loss of life, and could have escalated to a larger regional conflict.
Are these tactics being congratulated or is Abbas taking the Machiavellian route of “the ends justifying the means”? And what of the ends? A convicted child killer is free, a terrorist who has vowed to continue in his ways, surely this conflicts with Abbas morality…
It is interesting that Abbas took the time to congratulate the family Kuntar, yet said nothing of or to the Haran family. Smadar Haran lost her 2 children & husband that day, yet gave her blessing to the release of Kuntar in order to secure the bodies of Israel’s fallen.
I am quite certain that some readers will think this is a stretch, that I am blowing Abbas’ words & omissions out of proportion. I assure you, this is not the case. This is but one in a long-line of ‘peeks’ we’ve had at the real Mahmoud Abbas PHd (his PHd thesis: holocaust denial…surprise!).
A few months back, when a terrorist gunned down 8 young Yeshiva Students:
Abbas newpaper praised the man as a heroic Martyr on their front page, calling his act a “shehade (martyrdom) achieving operation”.After Israel & the USA gave Abbas 7000 rifles & 1,000,000 rounds of ammunition:
Abbas gave a speech in Ramallah: ”… Raising rifles against the occupation is our legitimate right, but raising guns against each other is forbidden. We should put our internal fighting aside and raise our rifles only against the Israeli occupation,”
Furthermore, Abbas’ Palestinian Authority has made it’s opinions on Kuntar quite clear, these are the words of its leaders:
“Samir Quntar, the warrior from Lebanon.”
“The brave warrior, Samir Quntar.”
“The Palestinian people and the Palestinian leadership are standing behind you (Quntar).”
“You (Quntar) are an inseparable part of the action to free our homeland.”
“Your (Quntar) patience and strength are a lesson for us.”
Yet somehow he’s still ”the Moderate”. Somehow he is still treated like a legitimate world leader. Even Israel’s current (senile, corrupt, insane) Prime Minister Olmert treats him like a life-long pal, hugging & joking with him in public.
Look Ma, I got the Zionists Serving Me… Watch I can make him sit, Olmert SIT!
Let’s be clear here – the words of Abbas are just the frosting, he has failed in every promise to curb violence, he refuses to fight the growing number of factions that bring violence internally as well as to Israel, even his own group, Fatah / the Al Aqsa Martyr’s Brigade, has conducted ongoing terror attacks against Israeli civilians.
If these are your moderates…

Abbas is another case of the Arabs being the Arabs worst enemy. In 1947, instead of accepting partition and beginning nation building like the Israelis, they started this bloodlust against the Jews. It is so easy to forget that Israel was not always the economic and military power it is today. Back then, the Israelis were the weaker, being outnumbered, outgunned, out-allied (US aid came at the end of the last major war) by the Arabs that surrounded her and attacked her again, then again, and again… But they built a nation that is the pride of Middle East.
Abbas does not have the ability or more likely, does not have the will to fight the parts of his population who want to capture of all of Israel. Does it really matter? It is the Palestinian’s responsibility to end the violence if they want even more land than was already given to them. It really does not matter if they will not or cannot, just that they are not. If they cannot police current population, then how can they be trusted with more people under their juristiction?

Leopard, it will only get worse – at this point I can’t see anybody replacing Abbas. Really though, I do not think it would matter if they had Mother Theresa as a leadership candidate. Their population has yet to give any sign that they even want peace and are willing to give up the idea of Israel’s destruction (beit demographic or military).
Children’s television shows still teach children hatred; the schools still teach a false history (maps show Israel with word “Palestine”, as if such borders under this name have ever existed); the majority still support terrorism (defined as the purposeful targetting of civilians). Something you also do not see on tv here (I get newspaper & TV clips from contacts in Lebanon, Iran & Bethlehem) is the glorification of death. On PA TV alittle while back there were young girls on the TV saying they aspired to Shehade, the anchor (an adult) lauded them; they danced in the streets after 9/11, the London bombing and the Spain bombings; they call Samir Kuntar a hero…
The saddest thing is, those that claim to sympathize with the Arabs in the West seem just as mixed up. As Arabs kill each other in the thousands, they spend all their energies on the evil Zionist… Really strange considering Arab on Arab violence, nearly always due to tribal, “honor” or religious differences, claims tens of victims every single day.

Busy with work still… I’m thinking of inviting this cashew from Jews Sans Frontier to an open debate on my site (may try to have it copied/linked across other sites as well). From time to time I go to those anti-Israel sites and try to debate them.
I try to stay WINGLESS by TESTING my beliefs through open debate. I also occassionally (albeit it’s becoming quite rare lately as polarization increases) find somebody who stimulates me through an engaging, respectful debate.
So I go to this site were alot of the authors use Jewish pseudonyms (they may be, they may not be; it’s a testament to Israel & Judaism that the tribe is so diverse) and they had this absurd article doubting Kuntar’s guilt.
So I post, they reply, I post again, I get a (rather empty) reply… And then I posted something that I knew would test these folks (Alot of information, stuff Pal sympathizers have a tough time countering) and the guy ERASES THEM! He censors me, mid-debate…
A blogger who censors comments based on his inability to counter arguments?! It really is a new low. No reason given, just some mumbling, tail-between his legs: ‘if they want your opinion they can go to your site’… If that isn’t a cop out, what is?!
Like most on the Pro-Israel side, I’ve had to deal with my fair share of 4 letter words, blind accusations (racist, islamophobe, zionist hellraiser, chairman of the jewish conspiracy to take over the world – I WISH!), and even death threats… but to censor MID DEBATE?
Alas, credibility seems not to be important to Moderator Elf (so fitting)… I have asked, I ask, and I will continue asking: If truth is on their side, why is it they are so afraid of open public debate…
