The “Blood Libel” has been a mainstay of anti-Semites for centuries. The fairy-tale has many variations, but generally it involves Jews killing the children of their enemies for the purpose of harvesting or consuming their blood for some macabre ritual. The Greeks accused the Jews of killing as part of sacrifices within the Holy Temple of Jerusalem. Christians fabricated a story regarding the murder & mutilation of (Saint) William of Norwich. Others fabricated stories of Jews hunting Gentile children in the night so that they could harvest their blood for the baking of Matzo.
These fabrications seem so far-fetched, so preposterous that one would likely scoff or chuckle at their mention. However, as hard as it is to believe, these stories were accepted as fact by average, hard-working citizens throughout history. These stories were used as justification for the murder of millions.
Believe it or not, the blood libel is a very significant part of Arab media & culture. Apparently nothing is too outrageous to be believed if it mentions the ‘conniving Jew’. The Protocols of the Elders of Zion has been broadcast across the Arab world on mainstream television channels; newspapers speak daily of Holocausts & genocides against Arab babies; videos show Hassidic Jews cutting the throat of a Palestinian Boy and then drawing his blood which then turns into Matzah; Jews are accused of spreading AIDS; in the Arab World it is common knowledge, accepted FACT – that the Mossad perpetrated 9/11.

This type of shameless hate-mongering is the rule, not the exception. The people are absolutely inundated from the time they are born. This reality is made all the more troubling by the fact that such broadcasts are often the only connection the average Middle Eastern Arab has with Jews. Israeli’s live among Arabs, the country has 1 million Israeli Arabs who are the neighbors, teachers, & doctors of the average Israeli-Jew. Israeli’s have a free media, one of Israel’s largest dailies is largely sympathetic to Arabs & antagonistic towards ALL Israeli policies (isn’t freedom great); every day Israeli’s hear a variety of positions from left, right, Arab & Jew. This is not so in Arabia, who has made sure that their nations have been absolutely cleansed of all Jews (nearly 1 million Jews lost their homes in Arab nations, this tragedy is ignored by the world). This reality, combined with the Arab nations control over their media means the people get one vile, hateful, point of view. Sprinkle alittle bit of violence, childrens television shows celebrating violence, families throwing parties to honor suicide bombers, children’s summer camps that teach military tactics, an entire society embroiled & immersed within a cult of death and is it any wonder the Arab world looks like it does?

Is it any wonder that for the past 60 years, while the rest of the world has progressed, evolved, built, learned and prospered, the Arab & Islamic world’s have but withered?
With such immersion of hate coming at you in stereo-sound, is it any wonder that peace has not been achieved? Is it any wonder that when Arafat rejected a deal that would have given the “Palestinians” all they ever wanted in 2000, there was no outrage, no scorn, no demands for further negotiation?
Those that purport to sympathize, speak on behalf and/or defend Arab & Muslim positions confuse me. They protest over the unfortunate death of innocents in war but ignore the wholesale brainwashing of an entire population. They declare that AIPAC is too powerful a lobby while staying mum on the fact that hundreds of millions are being immersed in hateful libel. These types also ascribe to libelous assertions – every single day seemingly intelligent Westerners accuse Israel of Ethnic Cleansing & Genocide; a very interesting claim considering the “Palestinians” have among the highest growth rates on the planet; a very odd claim considering Jews die in higher proportion to Arabs. Apparently, truth need not be a prerequisite when bashing Israel. It seems everything from outright lies to wholesale child abuse is permissable, no, encouraged, so long as it harms Israel. As usual the victims who end up paying the greatest price are the Arabs themselves. They inhabit some of the richest nations on the planet but still suffer unending poverty, illiteracy, high infant mortality & a general lack of innovation & productivity.
People often forget that 60 years ago it was the Jews who were technologically, economically & logistically (WAY) behind their neighbors. They inhabited a land of Malarial swamps in the North & unforgiving desert in the South. They were a mishmash of languages & cultures, the Sephardic Jews who had lived in Jerusalem for generations spoke Ladino (a variation of Spanish), the secular-humanist Zionists, exiles or descendants of exiles, spoke Arabic, German (Yiddish), Polish. Early on they realized that in order to survive in a tiny country without natural resources, surrounded by hostiles, they would need to be ultra productive & efficient. They came to the realization that in a land without natural resources, human productivity would need to replace oil, diamonds & fresh water. It was, and continues to be education, and a cultural emphasis on achievement that turned Israel from a wasteland to an agricultural marvel and then to the technological world leader it is today.
As the Jews moved forward, build a democracy, built a nation – the Arabs, from Syria to Saudi Arabia, tragically stagnated. As their leaders starve, kill & rape them the masses have their gaze conveniently averted. The greatest killer of Arabs is overwhelmingly – OTHER ARABS; the greatest cause of Arab illiteracy is other Arabs; yet they are all fixated on the Star of David, as if Israel has anything to do with the injustices of Saudi Arabia, Yemen & Syria.
Look at the faces of these children. We may not agree on certain events in history, we may not agree on politics but I ask you, where is the outcry over a national policy of child abuse? Where is the protest over these nation’s broadcast of age-old libel; fairy tales that have already led to the deaths of millions! What type of men and women will these children grow into. Immersed in hatred, taught utter nonesense and encouraged into a life of violence, blood and death. What type of world will they build? What of their victims? What of their own children?
The greatest tragedy in the MidEast today is a lack of Arab introspection. Before crossing the street, get your house in order; only then should you look to your neighbors as the cause of your woes.
If only the Arabs loved themselves as much as they hated Israel…

A common misconception Hambdi. People forget that Israel’s major wars were fought without American aid utilizing a mixed bag of arnaments from whichever country that would sell to the young nation (if you have currency, France will arm you).
It took alot of negotiation and many years before the USA would agree to even SELL Israel it’s best weapons. The fact is, Israel’s greatest triumphs were achieved without American support. The AirForce did most of its memorable work in French Mirages; and when France refused to sell Israel any more fighers, Israel backwards engineered & built improved versions of the Mirage: the Kfir & the Nesher.
As I said in the post, it’s very easy to forget that less than 5 decades ago, Israel was heavily outgunned, outnumbered & surrounded. The Arabs had the benefit of Soviet support early on, which meant they had state of the art Migs & T-series tanks. They also had the benefit of Russian tactical & aviation know-how… HECK, at one point RUSSIANS FLEW ON BEHALF OF THE EGYPTIANS!
IN 1970, during the War of Attrition Nasser demanded extra help from the Soviets. The Soviets sent 80 brand new Mig-21s and SAM batteries; they also sent Russian Pilots!

As for modern day American Support – think of it as a good investment – an investment that shows a return year after year. America “sells” weapons to much of the world, including Saudi Arabia & Egypt. Most of these sales are ‘on loan’, these types of loans never get paid – they become part of the “buying” nation’s debt; debts that grow and grow, accruing interest by the second. However, most of the money the USA gives to Israel must be spent in the USA. Besides the obvious boost to the American economy (what is better, a loan that never gets repaid, or a billions dollars infused into the economy…) this aid gives the USA ‘dibs’ on Israeli innovations. Israelis reworked the failed Patriot Missles, the new Version3 of the Patriot is finally a competent anti-ballastic missle solution; Israelis invented the Arrow2, which the USA will benefit from; Israel is a world leader in Avionics, computers, rocket and especially UAV development, all of which is shared with the USA. Now, all these benefits are tangible, they create jobs and technology that benefits Americans.
HOWEVER, EVEN IF ISRAEL WAS STAGNANT ON INNOVATION, THE AID WOULD BE WARRANTED. WHY? Because Israel is fighting the EXACT SAME WAR the USA is. It is a war against the Pan-Islamist threat. Read the Hamas Charter, read translated speeches of Arafat, Nassrallah & Heinia – despite what the Pal sympathizers will tell you – NONE OF THESE PEOPLE HAVE EVER MADE ANY SECRET ABOUT THEIR GOALS. Their goal is the annihlation of non-Muslims. All of these groups are racist, IslamoSupremicists – they carry on a tradition that began long before the refounding of Israel. They see the world as Dar-Al-Islam, the Abode of Islam and Dar-Al-Harab the Abode of war. Simply put: they believe a Muslim’s Duty is to conquer Dar-Al-Harab; that until this happens those within the “Abode of War” do not deserve peace or life. The groups are a threat to every man, woman and child that does not ascribe to the EXACT version of Islam they live by (just ask the Christians of Bethlehem, the Maronites of Lebanon, the Jews formerly of Iraq)

Curious. Israel is #1 in the world per-capita for startups, engineers & scientists. The patents & inventions that have come out of Israel in the past 50 years puts the rest of the world to shame. The American government does not contribute a dime to Israeli education institutions. The USA used to provide Israel with ECONOMIC AID, but Israel VOLUNTARILY negotiated the ending of this aid (the only country I have ever heard of telling another nation they do not want any more ‘free money’)

Wow… Arab Muslims go to school with Jewish Israelis so I am interested to know what form you think this education takes. The reality proves otherwise: Several Israeli newspapers seem dedicated to proving the IDF can do no right. Israelis have formed groups whose soul purpose is to monitor the IDF & Israelis in their contact with Muslims. THere are “Rabbis against the Occupation”, “Women against the occupation”, there are Jewish & Israeli websites who do nothing but lambast percieved injustices. Some Israelis even defend Islamic terrorists in court. Almost every night on Israeli TV you have open-minded debates between those that sympathize with the Arabs & those that do not. Such realities are not born of a nation that teaches hatred but rather of a true plural, free society.
I challenge you to prove that hatred is pushed & supported in mainstream Israel. You have my gaurantee that I will be waiting for your response on this one.

I agree, and it’s not only important to realize the depth, but even more important to seek out the ROOTS of this hatred; roots that have nothing to do with history, nothing to do with current events, nothing to do with reality (unless you believe the Jews are fire-breathing dragons with wagging tails)! At the same time, though, I wonder what’s the solution… It’s easy to hate them back, easy to point out the insanity of a society that immerses -their offspring, their future – in raging bloodlust. But hating them (I don’t, I doubt you do), observing them, and shattering the myths that the root of terror is anything but lifelong brainwashing doesn’t change anything…
These kids are victimized, and they grow up to be victimizers – both of the non-Muslims that remain within striking range AND of their own offspring.
I don’t know what the solution is, quite frankly I am really beginning to doubt there is a viable solution. How do you undo a lifetime of hatred, infused from all sides, from schools, family, media?
How do you convince an entire society that their pathetic failed state is more of their making than of any external source (would you believe it if your enemy told you that the reason you are miserable is because of your own mother and father)?
Furthermore, I think that many of those that do not recognize the depth & internal roots of Arab hatred – simply WILL NOT! It’s much easier to blame the victims, much easier to stick to this historically inaccurate myth of Israel as the cause of 1 billion Arab’s woes (as if the Middle East was a peaceful, progressive area before 1947, nothing could be further from the truth!)
Feeling very cynical this afternoon – I really do not see hope on the horizon. For what the Arabs have in oil, they lack in leadership; lack in introspection. Sometimes I think it will take a disaster of epic proportions to give the Arab world the spark it needs to wake itself from this lull it has been in for hundreds of years.

Angel, sometimes I wish I had the ‘faith’ but I’m an agnostic this week…
Worse than Obama is what’s going on in Israel right now, Olmert is proving himself to be senile (and I mean it, I have never ever, in my entire lifetime witnessed such lack of responsibility & accountability) and the rest of the government, including Barak (once one of my heroes even though I don’t always agree with him) seem to be have sold country for career.
Combine Obama with the current state of Israeli politics and…well…book me on the next shuttle to Mars…I’M MOVING!
