This post is in response to the article:Peres : Window For Peace is Shrinking
“The window of opportunity for peace is shrinking”
President Shimon Peres said Sunday during a meeting with visiting French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner.
TALK ABOUT OPTIMIST! Peres, wake up and smell the gunpowder… In order for the ‘window’ to be shrinking, a window WOULD HAVE HAD TO BE THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE! What frickin’ window?
Since signing Oslo
- The rocks have been replaced by bus bombs…
- A few scattered weapons have been replaced by a MASSIVE influx of rockets, long rifles, sniper rifles…
- A scattered bunch of useless Fedayeen, have utilized the tactics (taught to them by Israel, USA & others for ‘policing’) and become a real army…
- Ocassional ‘distrubances’ have turned to daily rocket barrages
AND WORST OF ALL: Though our enemies have become stronger, more brutal, more willing & able to attack innocent civilians, the WORLD STILL IGNORES US AT BEST, AIDS IN OUR DESTRUCTION AT WORST.
Get it through your head Peres, not only did we make the ULTIMATE ERROR by believing that the Arabs were ‘just like us’ & wanted to live ‘prosperous lives in a flourashing democracy’; we aided in our own demise (possibly) by giving them the weapons, tactics, money & worst-of-all confidence that they utilize to make war upon our citizens.
And worst of all, we should have all seen this coming…
We should have seen this coming
The OSLO PEACE and all others following it are but newer incarnations of the Treaty of al-Hudaibiyya… Jews are the new Meccans, & Arafat is…Muhammed incarnate…
Arafat loved to talk of the Treaty of al-Hudaibiyya… I first encountered the reference in one of his speeches (I believe it was a translation of an Arabic speech…Arafat was more truthful in his mother tongue):
What was the Treaty of al-Hudaibiyya?
“The very phrase a “final peace settlement” rings hollow to anyone familiar with the tenets of Islam. For there can never be a “final peace settlement” between Moslems and non-Moslems. The model for treaties is the agreement made between Muhammad and the Meccans in 628 A.D., the Treaty of al-Hudaibiyya. It was supposed to be a “truce” treaty that would last 10 years. It lasted scarcely 18 months, when Muhammad, feeling that his forces had grown sufficiently, breached the agreement on a pretext, and attacked the Meccans. As Majid Khaddui notes in War and Peace in Islam, this Treaty of al-Hudaibiyya became the model, and the basis, for all future “treaties” with Infidel peoples and polities.”

The Window for peace isn’t shrinking. It’s fused shut and no amount of forcing it, throwing rocks at it… will get it open in our lifetime.

Yah, I agree with you on this, Peres is so naive. BTW, I have fallen in love with Brigitte Gabriel after watching a couple interviews featuring her. I now want to read her book and if possible, intern for her.

She is a brave & fascinating woman & her story is poignant, horrific but also inspiring.
Her story, that of the Lebanese Christians, is outrageous. Once considered an Oasis within the Middle-East, it was a flourishing multi-national city. The streets bustled w/ liberty, prosperity & life. When mostly Muslim Palestinian Arabs asked for refuge (after King Hussein massacred & exiled them) the Christian Lebanese immediately welcomed them. This was despite the fact that (a) these were people (the “Palestinian”) with a history of abusing their host nations, thereby bringing world outrage & military attack as compensation for offering a welcoming hand.
(b) The “Palestinians”, (esp. the non-Christians), threatened the national makeup & identity due to high birth rates.
The dispicable tactics of the Palestinian Arabs, the reality of war, the discovery that all she was taught about the “Great Satan” (Israel) were hollow lies… all are part of her fascinating story. A must read.

I too enjoyed this article. The notion of negotiation being pushed is like the dog who won’t learn the reality of his new electric fence: he keeps coming back to the line to “talk” about it. ZAP.
What is the name of he book, do you know?

Most dogs aren’t even that incorrigible… Maybe Peres is a mashochist (imagine the leather chaps, chains, whips)…
